Welcome to the Centre for the Study of France and the Francophone World / Centre des Études de la France et du Monde Francophone. The CEFMF is an interdisciplinary institute devoted to the study of France and the francophone world at the University of Toronto. It sponsors a wide range of programs bringing together scholars and students within the University, from across Canada, and from around the world. The Centre supports pathbreaking interdisciplinary research into various aspects of the francophone world, encourages its study at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and engages in outreach towards the broader community across the Greater Toronto Area.

CEFMF is proud to announce the Centre’s formal affiliation with Victoria University in the University of Toronto.  Founded in 1836, Victoria is one of the oldest constituent colleges in the University of Toronto.  Through its rich array of academic and teaching programs, it boasts a long tradition of support for French and francophone studies.  Victoria President Paul Gooch and CEFMF director Paul Cohen signed the formal agreement in February 2013.  The Centre looks forward to a fruitful partnership with Victoria.

CEFMF is likewise delighted to announce that it has joined the Centre for European, Russian, and Eurasian Studies (CERES) at the University of Toronto. As a dynamic institute promoting exciting scholarly conversations on European studies, CERES will be an exciting partner for CEFMF in the years to come. Interim Director Eric Jennings signed the formal agreement of association in September 2013.
